CHATHAM PARK, OFTEN REFERRED TO AS “RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK II”, IS ANTICIPATED TO BE THE LARGEST AND MOST INNOVATIVE DEVELOPMENT IN NORTH CAROLINA HISTORY.
June 9, 2014 Tonight at about 10pm at the Old Courthouse in Pittsboro Courthouse, the vote was 4 to 1 to proceed with Chatham Park. Congratulations as now the real work begins.
In mid 2013, I began hearing about Chatham Park near Pittsboro, NC. I was told that it is planned to become Research Triangle Park 2.Chatham Park may become the largest development in North Carolina history. Chatham Park has the potential to leave the greatest legacy in quality of life and economic growth in North Carolina history. Preston Development Company who is the developer of Chatham Park has committed that the Park will be designed to utilize the most advanced planning concepts and technology of the 21st century.
As an Architect, this is a rare opportunity to be an observer of the process taking place. I have no financial ties to any of the parties. I have a professional interest in observing how this development evolves and believe that I might be helpful in bringing about some positive change.
I appreciate the concerns and the questions of the local citizens. I see a battle being drawn up between a world class developer and local citizens concerned about how this development will forever change their lives. I have professionally been on both sides of this type of battle.

December 19, 2013 Pittsboro Town Meeting
My general opinion is that this meeting went far to define many of the details of the language in the planning documents. Hopefully this will help the parties to be able to move on toward resolving the real issues.
